# Danube Street under the flood

Floodwater stands the full width of a broad street, still enough to mirror the houses along it. A horse draws a laden cart through the water at the centre, men pole a punt along the far side and a second boat lies against the houses. Along the left a line of men stands on a raised timber walkway built out over the water above heaped sandbags and debris. The buildings are of two storeys with arcaded ground floors and shuttered windows, and one of them carries a long painted fascia lettered for the newspaper Zastava and for the Serbian people's cooperative printing house. A bare tree and a gas lamp stand at the left, and a wall lamp projects from the house at the right.
