# The Second People's Pharmacy at the Hotel Vojvodina

Passers-by walk along the pavement in front of the Second People's Pharmacy, its name in large Cyrillic capitals across the ground floor of a long building with one upper floor. A Peko shoe shop trades at the left, and at the right a round-arched carriage gateway under a cast-iron balcony opens onto a courtyard with trees. A wooden telephone kiosk lettered TELEFON stands at the kerb with bicycles propped beside it, a man reads a newspaper by the pharmacy window, and tram rails run along the roadway. The building is the hotel on Liberty Square built in 1854 as the Elisabeth, renamed the Queen Mary in 1922 and named the Vojvodina after the Second World War; a pharmacy worked on its ground floor from 1946 until it closed on 1 January 1968.
