# An Abandoned Car by the Wrecked Prince Tomislav Bridge, 6 April 1941

A saloon car sits abandoned on the riverbank, its bodywork scarred and rusted, beside a tangle of collapsed steel truss lying at an angle where it meets the water. Petrovaradin's hilltop fortress and terraced barracks buildings are visible across the river beyond the wreckage. The trees along the bank are still bare, their branches leafless against a hazy sky.
