# Đačko igralište from the air

An aerial view north east across the Danube from above the Liman shore. In the foreground a fenced sports ground stands alone on open grass: an oval running track with a second rectangular field beside it, a pavilion at one corner, a low stand along the near side and young poplars set in rows around the whole perimeter. Beyond the water the city runs along the far bank at the left, two bridges cross the river, the long low railway bridge on its many piers nearer the camera and the arched trusses of the road bridge behind it, and the barrack range of Petrovaradin Fortress stands on its rock at the right. Barges lie out on the open water. This is Đačko igralište, the school sports ground opened on 31 May 1936 on the raw ground of Mali Liman, whose poplar screen against the košava wind became the mark of the place.
