# Crowds on the new bridge approach

An aerial view of the new bridge, its steel truss carried on two river piers across to the far bank. Dense crowds line the approach road and fill the open ground at the bridgehead, where a small spired church stands alone on the cleared land. The near shore is still raw with the earthworks of the approach, and the far bank runs in low roofs along the water.
