# The Štrand waterworks during the 1965 flood

An oblique aerial over the water-supply works by Štrand. At the centre stands the newly commissioned complex, a long low modernist building beside a cylindrical water tower carried on a narrow shaft; JKP Vodovod i kanalizacija records that the new installations entered trial operation in 1964 and regular operation in April 1965. Behind the plant the apartment blocks of the developing Liman I settlement are still going up, several of them open slabs with their floor plates exposed, among bare earth and unmade roads. A line of poplars divides the site from a sports ground, and a channel curves through heavy tree growth at the lower right. During the Danube flood of 1965 water advanced from the Štrand area through the sewer system onto Liman, which is the flood this photograph belongs to.
