# Greetings from Petrovaradin Fortress, Prince Eugene's 1716 Victory

A horse drawn carriage and pedestrians cross the pontoon bridge toward the fortress hill on this Gruss aus der Festung Peterwardein card, published by Josef Schindler of Neusatz. Printed text recalls Prince Eugene of Savoy's 1716 victory over the Ottomans at the fortress. That 1716 date belongs to the battle being commemorated, not to when the card itself was printed.
