# A carter waiting outside Stojacic the tailor

A white horse in full harness stands in the road on worn cobbles, hitched to a long flat dray with heavy spoked wheels, its shafts and traces taut and the driver's seat empty. Behind it the ground floor of a plastered building runs the width of the frame. A painted board over the shopfront carries the tailor's name in Cyrillic capitals with a smaller line of trade description beneath. To the left a doorway with a carved surround, a house number plate, and a small enamel sign naming a second business. Through the open shop door and the windows beyond, framed pictures and hanging goods are visible, with a woman and two men standing in the further doorway and a bicycle propped against the wall. A man in a suit and hat walks out of the frame at the right. The print is scalloped at the edges and creased across one corner.
