# The Almaška church tower from the street corner

A tall view up an unmade sandy street to the baroque west tower of the Almaška church, which rises in three diminishing stages to an onion dome and a cross, with a clock face on its upper stage and louvred openings below. The nave runs back from it under a steep tiled roof and a low wall with iron railings and a line of trees encloses the churchyard on the left. The right of the frame is filled by the flank of a single storey house that comes forward to a corner, its plastered front articulated by shallow pilasters, its windows barred, and a tall shaped gable with a small round opening standing above the eaves. Two men are standing at its doorway, one in shirtsleeves with his hands at his belt. A single overhead wire crosses the street and the roadway is bare earth with a raised kerb.
