# Women outside the Korzo cinema

Two women stand outside the entrance of Korzo, one of Novi Sad's earliest permanent cinemas, in the courtyard of the Svojina complex at today's Zmaj Jovina 4. The small freestanding building was originally constructed in 1901 as a photographic atelier from a project signed by Anton Tikmajer and was later converted for cinema use. Research on the development of cinematography in Novi Sad dates the opening of Korzo to 1912. Its hall became an important site in the city's early film culture and was associated with the premiere of Vladimir Totović's locally produced film Lopov-detektiv. The photograph shows the cinema's decorated entrance façade with its Serbian Cyrillic sign above the three arched openings.
