# Peterwardein in Syrmia, by F. Both after Jakob Alt

The fortress rises above the riverside settlement, with a large wooden vessel, a long narrow boat, figures, felled timber and stacked boards along the foreground shore. The sheet is titled PETERWARDEIN in Syrmien and signed F. Both sc., naming F. Both as the engraver. The composition is a reduced engraved repeat of Jakob Alt's view of Petrovaradin, published as the lithograph Syrmien. Festung Peterwardein in Adolf Friedrich Kunike's Donau-Ansichten at Vienna in 1826. A Croatian History Museum catalogue records the same F. Both print and states that it was made after Alt's lithograph. Who F. Both was beyond that initial is not established.
