# Silver three-kreuzer piece of Maria Theresa, 1743

A three-kreuzer piece of 1743, the silver groschen of daily trade, from the early years of Maria Theresa's reign, when Neusatz was still the bridgehead settlement opposite Petrovaradin, five years before it became a free royal city. The obverse is worn almost smooth, only fragments of her name and titles left around the bust, and the reverse shows her crowned arms in a wreath, the numeral 3 in a cartouche below and her titles as archduchess of Austria, duchess of Burgundy and countess of Tyrol. Wear like this came from years of passing from hand to hand.
