# Building the bridge, the chapel still standing

The steel superstructure of the Prince Tomislav Bridge reaches half way across a wide flooded foreshore, a crane standing on the end of the girders and timber staging below them. Alone on the bank at the right stands the small Baroque chapel of St John of Nepomuk, its bell tower under an onion dome and a low walled range beside it, with reeds and floodwater in the foreground. The bridge, paid for from German war reparations, opened to traffic on 20 May 1928, and the chapel was pulled down for its approaches.
