# Nine-kreuzer stamp of 1850 with a Neusatz postmark

A 9 kreuzer of the first Austrian issue, cancelled with a single-circle NEUSATZ datestamp of 4 February, one of the earliest Novi Sad postmarks known. A decree of 18 September 1853 approved a post office for Neusatz, and a Bavarian postal notice reported it open by 14 March 1854; before that the town's letters went through Peterwardein. The 1850 stamps lost their validity at the end of 1858, so this strike falls in a February between 1854 and 1858.
