# Liberty Square and Its Demolished Church, Before 1892

A market square stretches before a tall Baroque church with a clock in its tower, an ornate column topped with a statue standing beside it. Long exposure has blurred several pedestrians into ghostly shapes while others hold still enough to register sharply, among them men in bowler hats and boys watching the camera. Shops with awnings line the street to the right. The donor's caption identifies the church as one demolished in 1892, on the site where the Church of the Holy Name of Mary stands today, dating this photograph to before that year.
