# Down Kossuth street to the palace

A tram runs on a trolley pole, so the photograph cannot be earlier than 1911. The destination board and the firm name on the flank of the corner block are both Hungarian, while a long fascia in Serbian Cyrillic capitals runs above the shopfronts below them, so the official and the commercial lettering on one building sit in two languages at once. Only two words of that fascia come out legibly and its opening is cut off by the edge of the card. A wayside crucifix on a base stands before the palace and an arc lamp hangs from a span wire across the street. The caption is Hungarian alone, which places the card before 1918.
