# The Piers of the Blown Railway Bridge, Novi Sad, 1941

The viewer looks down from the fortress toward the piers of the demolished railway bridge, three massive stone piers standing isolated in the Danube with no spans between them. A rail line runs to the ruined bridgehead at the water's edge and continues onto an improvised wooden trestle. A car is parked on the embankment below, and the rooftops of Novi Sad spread along the far bank.
