# Onlookers by the Wrecked Prince Tomislav Bridge, Lamp Pylons Still Standing

The road bridge lies broken across the Danube, one span driven down into the water on the left and the deck on the right tipped up at a steep angle, with two of its ornamental lamp pylons still upright on the tilted roadway. Men in coats and hats stand on the stony foreshore below, looking up at the wreck. Across the river the long barrack ranges of the Petrovaradin fortress run along the ridge above the ramparts, and the tower of the lower town's monastery church rises among the roofs on the left.
