# Petrovaradin Fortress Across the River, September 1907

The handwritten letter is a warm note home, Édes Margitkám, my sweet Margitka, telling her the writer is not surprised she's hearing from Novi Sad, having now been here a week and feeling very well, signed with initials only. The fortress fills the hill across the water, its own small clock tower visible among the ramparts, with a floating pontoon bridge at the waterline and a second, smaller church tower visible in the town at the far left.
