# Futoška Street looking along the shopfronts

A view down a broad unmade street lined on both sides with low buildings. On the left a two storey house with a shaped parapet stands at the near corner, its ground floor in shop use with goods hung at the door, and beyond it a taller block with tall first floor windows runs on down the street, its ground floor a row of shopfronts under signboards. A large ornamental gas lantern on a scrolled bracket projects from the corner building above the pavement. On the right a long single storey range with a continuous tiled roof runs away into the distance, broken by doorways. The roadway between is bare earth with a crown and gutters. Some thirty or forty people are scattered along it and on the pavements, women in long skirts and headscarves, men in dark coats and hats, several children in the foreground, one small boy standing alone in the middle of the road looking at the camera, and a dog beside him. A covered cart stands at the left kerb and another further down.
