# A Citroën on the bare forecourt of the new station

The new railway station stands across a wide forecourt of bare, weed-grown ground that has not yet been paved or planted. Its glazed central hall is roofed by a folded concrete sawtooth, a line recalling the rooflines of Pannonian houses, with lower flat roofed wings to either side and a shallow canopy running along the front at ground level. Tall multi-headed lamp standards rise from the open ground. A Citroën 2CV crosses the foreground with two people aboard, buses and cars stand along the far kerb at the left, and a long rack of bicycles fills the pavement before the entrance. The station opened on 31 May 1964 to a design by Imre Farkas with Milan Matović, replacing the line and the terminus that had served the city from 1883.
