# Peterwardein, by Thomas Ender, hand-coloured

A hand-coloured view from the Novi Sad bank straight across the Danube. Petrovaradin fortress stands on its grey rock with the long barrack block and the clock tower above, the curtain wall of the lower town running along the water below and an earth causeway sloping to the shore at the left. Villagers in coloured folk dress gather on the sandbank in the foreground with casks and a cartwheel, while a timber raft carrying raftsmen drifts midstream, a laden boat is poled at the right and a skiff crosses below. The caption reads "PETERWARDEIN.", with "Gez. v. Th. Ender." at the lower left and "Gest. v. Sands." at the lower right.
