# The Prince Tomislav Bridge Standing Complete, the Fortress Beyond

Petrovaradin seen across the Danube, the fortress spread along the top of its bluff with the barracks ranges and the clock tower above the escarpment. A steel truss bridge crosses the river in front of it, a tall portal frame carrying the main span and a long run of shorter trusses leading back to the near bank on low piers. A church spire rises from the town at the foot of the hill, a small river steamer is tied up below the bridge and a floating landing stage lies along the shore at the left. The road bridge stands complete and undamaged, which puts the view between its opening in 1928 and its destruction in 1941.
